Anyone have a 2017 New Year resolution that said “spend less money?!” That might’ve been our only resolution this year, especially this January coming off of a heavy spending holiday month. (Did we live at Costco? Seriously!) This month therefore, we’re cutting back on groceries, shopping without gift cards, and going out.
In an effort to have something to look forward to we’ve kept Friday night’s as date night alive and well with these tips:
- Saving a favorite new TV show for Friday night! So many of our favorites are back: Vikings (watch on Historychannel.com) , Sherlock (watch on pbs.com) , and the second season of Man in the High Castle (watch on Amazon)!
- Not into a TV series right now?? (But seriously, watch Sherlock…) Then pick up a fresh Redbox Friday for a new flick!
- Make Pizza!!!!! Gluten free, vegetarian, full on everything- you can make pizza to your exact diet/craving needs no matter how bizarre they are. Many grocers sell their own dough now (Safeway and Trader Joes for sure!) and you can put all your favorite toppings on top for SO CHEAP. I suggest baking it at 425 degrees for 14-18 minutes for a great crust. Once you start, you’ll feel almost too guilty to pay $23 a pie ever again.
- Eat on the couch. Movie on or off, but get away from the kitchen, put on your cozies and remember your college days of not owning a dining table.
Here are some other items that put me in that date night mood.
We use our wooden serving tray every date night in and it’s one of the most useful gifts I’ve ever received! And I know I’ve said it before, but our pizza peel and pizza pan are put to good use each week. The sofa and ottoman? Yes, I’m dreaming (but not buying right?!). This tweed blanket comes in about every color and is the top seller on Wayfair. A good one to put on your list. Whirley Pops make amazing Kettle Corn for those nights you decided to eat before the movie.
